Texas Instruments produces processors which are high in computing power and efficient in energy consumption. Reasons for this are the architecture and differences in technology compared to other manufacturers. The VisionBox is made for users who want to understand and develop their own applications. Thus the user should have knowledge of image processing and C++. Knowledge of informatics and other skills in computing would be a vantage. This is often confused with each other. Who parameterized an application did not program it. Changing a font in a word processing program is changing a parameter of a program - not writing a word processing program. It is the same with image processing. In the end a highly intelligent program emerges that is not in need of parameters. Applications of the VisionBox are programmed in C or C++. For reaching the aim more quickly, libraries like HALCON are recommended.
For many applications, the windows operating system is not capable of real-time. Nevertheless it is possible to operate databases or to design an operating interface based on windows. The devision of PC applications and image processing has to be considered. In this case, the VisionBox combines the grabber, the computer and the interface (Ethernet). The vision box interacts with the PC via Gigabit-Ethernet TCP/IP. The operating system DSP/BIOS works with VisionBox. It is produced by Texas Instruments. According to the producer, DSP/BIOS is the most commmonly used operating system worldwide (based on number of pieces). This is due to the world of embedded - where consideralby more processors are used than in the world of office computers. DSP/BIOS is capable of real-time and technically mature. In principle it is comparable to the basis of a Linux operating system.
