Embedded - a story of success

VisionBox Touch

Computer, touch screen, camera and illumination supply - all combined into a single box!

An image processing systems is made of many components. Dividing these into two groups, illumination, camera and object lens have to be near the object, which is being checked. Apart from this, the computer, screen and wiring have to be set up.

VisionBox Touch combines the essential components into a single box. The 17'' monitor is protected by bullet proof glass and thus fitted to industrial applications. The C-API of the VisionBox supports touch functions. It is delivered with a sample program. A power supply unit and electric wiring are integrated into the box. Camera wiring and - if needed - power supply for the camera and illumination are led to the outside.

Your advantages as a user are: simple handling, no control cabinet, autarkic system, machine character, easy to wire. As a customer you get a highly integrated image processing system - every demand is met, no matter what kind of application. Attached to a support arm of a machine (VESA), the user can handle the vision system ergonomically.

For serial application the VisionBox Touch is available with further equipment, e.g. different screen size, IEEE 1394a camera interface, user specific box or as a portable version.

Sample applications

Color area scan camera
For tasks at a trade fair, the lenses module consists of LED illumination ring, telecentric lenses and a high resolution color scan camera, e.g. SONY XCL-U1000C. Only two wires (LED Power, camera power, Camera Link) are needed to connect lenses module and VisionBox Touch to each other. On the computer a check program is running - the check algorithms come from the image processing library HALCON. Clear graphics and operation simplify the handling of the system. Interfaces to the machine control take place via Ethernet TCP/IP.

Color line scan camera
On the assembly line, particles of color haven to be classified. In this case, the lenses module consists of a white light LED-line. For cameras, the Chromasens ALEOS 2048 (2k, 24,3 kHz, color) is used. The trigger signal coming from the rotary encoder is send by VisionBox Touch via Camera Link. The rotary encoder of an assembly line is directly connected to the external trigger input of Camera Link Boards. With the touch screen, the user only needs few movements to choose a classification of particles.
